escubed welcomes new staff to the team!September 19, 2017

We are delighted to welcome aboard three new staff members to the growing escubed scientific team. Their varied academic background brings a range of expertise and experience to escubed which compliments the current skill set at escubed well.

Dr. Agita Vaidilaite-Pretorius joined escubed as a scientist earlier this year. She received her B.Sc. In Biology in 2003 and M.Sc. in Ecology and Environmental Science in 2005 before completing her PhD in Biopharmaceutics in 2015. Her PhD was an industry-led collaboration with drug formulation group at Medimmune UK Ltd.

Her thesis was entitled Mechanistic approaches towards understanding particle formation in biopharmaceutical formulations. In her PhD project she investigated the role of surfactant type and level on protein and monoclonal antibody thermal, storage and particle size stability.

Agita retains her research interests in evaluating pharmaceuticals, assessing their stability and improving drug formulation and development through the challenges of the development and testing of pharmaceutical products in her new role at escubed.

Dr. Dafni Chatzikyriakou has a BSc (Hons) and MSc from the University of Cyprus (2007/2009) and a PhD from the University of Liege in Belgium (2016). Her research interests are focused on the formation and characterization of ceramic materials. Throughout her studies, she worked on different research projects including the formation of silica powders for the selective absorption of boron from aqueous solutions and the preparation of mesoporous tungsten oxide films for electrochromic applications.

Dr. Yuhan Zhao did a Master’s degree in Pharmaceutical Science and Engineering at the University of Leeds. Her project focused on developing nanoparticle stabilised emulsion. She completed a Chemistry PhD in the Institute of Process Research and Development (iPRD) lead by Professor John Blacker at the University of Leeds. Her research interests are process development, chemical analysis and continuous flow reactions.

escubed’s Business Manager Kylie Verity has said “We are very excited to announce the addition of Agita, Dafni and Yuhan to our Scientific team. It is essential that as escubed grows its Research and Development offering we bring on board the right skill set to serve the needs of our customers. Agita, Dafni and Yuhan are a perfect fit and we look forward to you meeting them in the coming months.”
